Got a son at his old age, Sir GER, a rich man, spoiled his only child, Chang- so, as bossy and reckless as it can be. Chang-so was crazy about a beautiful girl named Hsiu-hsiu. But she was falling in love with her cousin, Sing-tzai. This drove Chang-so very upset. Sir GER had been anxious and worried about is the Chang-so's fate, which was predicted by a Taoist priest, E-mei, saying that he would die young at about 23 years old. When Chang-so is 23 years old, he went to peek at Hsiu-Hsiu from the roof. However, Hsiu-Hsiu was dead accidentally and become a shy spirit. Chang-so survived by sucking our Hsiu's last vitality.
