Unknown to the people of Earth, there is a branch of humanity called the “Gosei Angels” (護星天使, Gosei Tenshi) whose mission is to protect the Earth. When the Earth is targeted by an evil alien invasion force called Warstar, they destroy the Heaven’s Tower (天の塔, Ten no Tō), the bridge between the Earth and the Gosei World, home of the Gosei Angels, to keep them from interfering. However, five apprentice Gosei Angels are on Earth at the time and, while finding a way to return home, they become the Goseigers to stop Warstar. But soon after, the monstrous Yuumajuu emerge from their slumber and the Goseigers receive aid from a special being called Gosei Knight who once fought against the Yuumajuu in the past. But even after they defeat the Yuumajuu, the evil robotic Matrintis Empire rises to take over the Earth with the data acquired from the last two groups. Once they are defeated, the Goseigers face their greatest enemy in the one who has been manipulating the other groups from the very beginning: a rogue Gosei Angel who took their mission to protect the Earth to a dangerous extreme by planning to destroy all life and recreate the world in his image.

降临地上界的五位年轻的实习护星天使，操纵着护星卡片、天装术以及护星铳、护星机等诸多不可思议的力量，守护地球和芸芸众生是他们的使命。
这五位护星天使奉命暂离天之塔，来到人间实习。然而，天之塔某日突然遭到了破坏…破坏的元凶居然是来自宇宙界的邪恶军团，“宇宙虐灭军团War Star（战星）”而且破坏天之塔之后，便开始宣示要支配地球，消灭地球上的所有生命。
护星天使所持有的力量有操纵风、雷、阳光的天空力量（SKYIC POWER），有操纵重力、磁力、熔岩以及植物生命力的大地力量（LANDIC POWER），还有操纵海洋、河川、漩涡以及雨水的海洋力量（SEAIC POWER），这些是IC POWER的三种属性，护星天使与生俱来得具备着其中之一。他们分别被誉为：
“闪耀的 SKYIC POWER（天空力量）”　SKYIC一族（天空一族），性格乐观开朗，
“勇猛的 LANDIC POWER（大地力量）”　LANDIC一族（大地一族），性格热血好胜，
“敏锐的 SEAIC POWER（海洋力量）”　SEAIC一族（海洋一族），性格认真踏实。
这些凭着三族力量的五位年轻人，他们也要守护人类与地球的安全，绝对要消灭这些外来的宇宙侵略者，阻止他们的野心，于是‘天装战队护星者’正式成军。

5 Goseiger sebenarnya adalah ahli di cabang kehidupan manusia dipanggil “Malaikat Gosei” (護星天使 Gosei Tenshi), yang misinya adalah untuk melindungi Bumi. Tapi Bumi ini disasarkan oleh kekuatan pencerobohan jahat disebut Warstar yang menghancurkan Menara Syurga (天の塔 Ten no Tō), sebuah lorong antara Bumi dan Dunia Gosei. Sementara mencari cara untuk kembali ke dimensi mereka, Goseiger membela Bumi dari Warstar dan menghentikan pasukannya dari mencuri tenaga kehidupan di planet.
Namun, sekumpulan musuh menyerang, Tentera Darat Warstar adalah menyerang Bumi dan telah menghancurkan lorong Menara Syurga, dan Malaikat Gosei tidak dapat mencapai permukaan planet, sehingga menempatkan planet dalam bahaya besar.
Tapi pada saat ini, sekumpulan Malaikat Gosei magang, yang telah terjadi untuk melawat permukaan di dunia manusia (seharusnya sebelum Menara Syurga dihancurkan), telah berdiri terhadap Tentera Darat Warstar untuk melindungi planet ini.
Mereka adalah pahlawan terkini, Tensou Sentai Goseiger!
